I'M ALL ABOUT THE
IN
-BETWEEN MOMENTS

LET'S TALK WARDROBE

WHY DOES MY OUTFIT MATTER?

What you wear can make or break your images. My main aim is for your photos to be 'timeless' and 'authentically you'.

I want you to love them just as much in 10, 20, even 50 years time!

Start by looking through your wardrobe, see what you have already. What do you usually wear? What do you feel most like 'yourself' in?

MOVEMENT   /   TIMELESSNESS   /   ALL YOU

1  /  MOVEMENT
Can you move around comfortably in it? Better still, does the piece itself move? Think flowy, whimsical, light, airy, and avoid stiff, crisp, business-like pieces.

2  /  TIMELESSNESS
This is key! I don't want you to regret your outfit choice in a few years time. Would you have worn this 10 years ago? Could you see yourself wearing it in 10 years time?

3  /  ALL YOU
Above all else, the most important thing is that you feel comfortable, so see this as a guide, not an absolute, and make sure whatever you wear really does reflect 'you'. When you're feeling comfortable and confident, it will show in your images.

COLOUR PALETTE inspiration,

It's a fine balance between standing out from, but still looking like you belong in the environment.

SOFT NEUTRALS

I recommend sticking to neutrals and earthy tones that look like they fit into the environment we're shooting in, steering away from bright, aggressive manufactured colours and tones that aren't typically found in nature.

POPS OF COLOUR

Having said that, pairing one or two pops of complimenting colours into the mix, with neutrals everywhere else, can look really beautiful too!

I LOVE how Katherine and Phil paired the neutral and champagne tones with the beach setting to give a fully tonal and timeless look to their images!

LOCATION + SEASON

MARSDEN GROTTO  /  APRIL

Imagine you've painted a landscape, and now you're painting the subjects within it (that's you)! As I said before, you want to look like you belong there. Consider the colours and textures of your location, this may help determine what you choose to wear.

The season will have a big role to play in this too. Winter months don't give us a lot of colour, so you may want to add a pop of colour in to brighten up your images. Summer can be much more saturated with green grass, flowers, blue skies (wishful thinking?), so you could even get away with all neutrals head to toe, or introduce some complimenting colours to your scene.

WHAT TO AVOID

Crisp or business like clothing that you feel restricted, or overly formal in

Avoid athletic wear, gym clothing and athletic footwear

Avoid large logos and overpowering branding on clothing that may be distracting in the images

Try and steer away from crazy patterns or bright neon colours!

If it's looking super windy, you may want to rethink any short dresses or skirts! Longer dresses in the breeze can look AMAZING though!!

IN SUMMARY

    • keep your outfit reasonably neutral so it stands the test of time
bring some options, bring some layers for variety, change half way!
   • think about the setting and what might work in your chosen location
   • consider the time of year too, avoid short dresses in the wind!
   • steer away from big logos and large graphics

HAVING SAID ALL THAT

Circling back to my first point.. comfort comes first, and I want you to show up as yourselves - so if none of the above resonates with you, then scrap that! YOU DO YOU. Like I said.. I want you to love them just as much in 10, 20, even 50 years time!

Keep me in the loop with your ideas!

Want help deciding? Send me some photos and options, I can help guide you.

BUT LASTLY..

Do not stress over this!! We're going to have a lottt of fun, and you'll look great!
